tree hunt, hawaii style.

Apparently, there was a problem with the Christmas tree situation in the HI. When my parents shipped their container here, there were about a bazillion containers of Christmas trees headed this way, all from...you guessed it - Oregon, baby! Unfortunately, we hear they turned away about, I don't know, a BUNCH of containers of Christmas trees because of a bug. Or a fungus. Or a pest. Whatever. There's a shortage. Someone in my parents' church paid $160. For an 8 ft. tree. I KID YOU NOT. So. We set about looking for an alternative. And wouldn't you know it, there's a tree farm in Wahiawa that sells Norfolk Pines, which are originally from New Zealand, if you're wondering. They grow here, and they're kind of crazy and different, but so is Christmas in Hawaii! We may have found a new holiday favorite tradition....:)
